What operations should I choose to enhance photos taken by phone?

Want to enhance photos taken by your phone?

To improve the quality of photos taken by phone or digital camera, please make sure they weren't previously upscaled with any other tool

The best processes to be applied once you imported images from your camera roll, are:

Operations
Upscale type: Photo
additionally: Enhance face details (if required)

Photo = better image compression removal, higher upscaling accuracy and detail preservation




Photo + Enhance Face details = for compressed or pixelated images with faces, rebuild face details

alternatively:

Upscale type: Older version
Photo 1.0






Photo 1.0 = photos captured by a mobile device or digital camera

Further on, you can set the Size output of the image:

leave to Auto
customise with Custom Factor (2x, 4x, 8x, 16x)
apply own required values within Width & Height tab




By default, the resolution of upscaled image output is set to 300 DPI

There are also other functions you can adjust accordingly to your requirements:

Light AI

Use the Light AI sidebar to balance out colours and fix lightning in your images.

Tone enhance

Choose the Tone Enhance sidebar for higher dynamic range.

Color enhance

Adjust Color Enhance to increase saturation, and provide brightness adjustments

Dependance - when to apply Light AI, Tone Enhance and Color Enhance

👉🏻 To prevent artificial lighting of your processed images after selecting Light AI, it is not recommended to apply Tone and Color enhancers
👉🏻 For Tone Enhance or Color Enhance, intensity levels of 15-30 will be good starting points, providing you hadn't previously applied Light AI. However, there's always a space to adjust their intensity further up to when the demanded level/satisfying outcome is achieved. Experiment!
