Why is my download not working?
You processed your image, it looks great in the preview, and thenβ¦ nothing happens when you try to download it. Genuinely one of the most frustrating things. Here's how to fix it. π
First β Check the Obvious Stuff β
Before we get into troubleshooting, run through this quick checklist:
- π Check your Downloads folder β sometimes the file lands there silently with no notification, especially on Chrome. It might already be there!
- πΎ Check your device storage β if your drive is nearly full, downloads can fail without any error message
- π Try refreshing the page β occasionally the download button just needs a nudge
Still nothing? Let's dig deeper. π
The Most Common Fixes π§
Switch to Google Chrome π
This is fix #1 for a reason β Chrome handles our download process most reliably across all devices. If you're on Safari, Firefox, Edge or any other browser, switch to Chrome first and try again before anything else.
Most download issues we see are browser-specific and resolve immediately on Chrome.
Disable Browser Extensions or Ad Blockers π«
Some browser extensions β particularly ad blockers, privacy shields, and download managers β can intercept or block file downloads without telling you. Try:
- Opening a private / incognito window (extensions are usually disabled there by default)
- Attempting the download from there
- If it works, you know an extension was the culprit β disable them one by one to find which one
Try Right-Clicking Instead π±οΈ
Instead of left-clicking the download button, try right-clicking it and selecting "Save link as" or "Save target as". This forces the browser to handle the download directly rather than going through its normal flow, and bypasses a lot of the common issues.
Check Your Network or VPN π
Corporate networks, office Wi-Fi, and VPN connections sometimes have firewall rules that block certain file types or download sources. If you're on a work network or using a VPN, try:
- Switching to your personal mobile data / hotspot
- Disabling VPN temporarily and trying again
Try a Different Device π±
If none of the above works, try downloading on a completely different device β your phone, a tablet, another computer. This rules out anything device-specific and often gets you the file quickly while you troubleshoot the original device.
Specific Error: Progress Bar Appears But Nothing Downloads π
This specific scenario β where you see a brief progress bar flash but no file appears β usually means one of two things:
1. The file didn't process correctly on our end
If the issue only affects images processed today (while older images download fine), the file may not have been written to our servers correctly after processing. In this case don't reprocess yet β contact us first with the time of processing and your account email and we'll investigate without costing you extra credits.
2. Something in your browser is intercepting the transfer
The progress bar appearing but stopping is a classic sign of a browser extension or network setting cutting off the download mid-stream. The incognito window test above will tell you quickly if this is the case.
My Older Images Download Fine But Today's Don't π€
This is an important distinction! If:
- β Old images download normally
- β Only today's processed images won't download
This points to a server-side issue with those specific files rather than anything on your end. Please don't reprocess β reach out to us with your account email and the approximate time you processed the images and we'll look into it and make sure you don't lose any credits. π
Common Questions β
My image says "Failed" instead of giving me a download option
A Failed status means the processing didn't complete successfully. Check our Why Is My Processing Taking So Long? article for common causes, and reach out to us β we'll refund any credits used on failed jobs.
I downloaded the image but can't find it anywhere
Check your Downloads folder first, then search your device for the filename. On mobile, check your Photos app or Files app β downloads sometimes go there depending on your device settings.
The downloaded file is corrupted or won't open
Try downloading again β occasionally a file transfer gets interrupted. If it keeps happening, reach out to us and we'll look into it.
I'm on mobile β why won't it download?
Mobile browsers can be tricky with downloads. Try using Chrome for Android or Safari on iOS which handle downloads most reliably. On iPhone, downloaded files usually go to the Files app rather than your Camera Roll.
